It was pretty common in the US where I live on the 2nd hand market – 15 20 years ago!! But now no Tekno bus is common in the US!
Great photos – thank you. I had assumed that it was a fantasy company – just made up for US/Canada market? You are right – probably not for UK, as the Rapid Transit Co sounds very American and not British!

I looked at my Scania Ackerman and the Honest John, They are the older version with exposed axle. I wonder if they used the covered baseplate on all of them in the end?
I learned all about Tekno from these books – highly recommended even if they have errors. lots of great photos, in color for the later editions.
They are hard to find now, especially outside DK, I assume. There is only one on ebay worldwide right now and that is the 1984 edition.
Thank you for the details. I did know about Langes and then Kirk, but I did not know about the furniture, garages, gyroscope, traffic signal, tinplate toys!

Did Tekno import Japanese tin toys? or did someone later just put Tekno decals on a tinplate train? Is this the only example? Very interesting, Hans Jorgen!

The red plastic ring is not a take-off wheel. It’s is a red-dot or spot, which was Corgi’s first attempt at Whizzwheels!

I had assumed that Kirk would not want to sell to Tekno anymore – maybe because they did not like each other or because they had become competitors. but I like your explanation better.
Sometimes you have to buy another car to get the tires – maybe one in bad shape? Corgi also sold replacement packs because of this issue, but they are very rare now, I think.

If the contract ended, and Kirk kept selling toys to Tekno, then the contract never really ended? I do not understand what you wrote. Sorry that I do not speak Danish, which makes it difficult for you.
When did the Kirk models come out? In black box? In regular Tekno window boxes?
My Walco boxes have both Kirk and Tekno in them – but since they are old, anyone could have replaced them over time.
Since the contract ran out between Langes (Kirk) and Tekno, I assumed that Kirk stopped supplying the models to Tekno. But if Tekno had old stock, perhaps you are right. Both companies continued to sell them at the same time? After that is 1972, Tekno Algrema bought Kirk so if Kirk or Algrema had extra stock, perhaps the Kirk continued after 1971 as well?
