VW Type I van – take apart?

RoutemasterNL on another forum wants to repaint some old Tekno VW vans. If he drills out the one rivet on the baseplate, will it come apart easily? Has anyone done that?

Hi Carl

You have to drill out the rivets. In the rear off the are 2 nagls holding it together. It can be very difficult to separate the 2 parts. Only use your hands – be carefull using tools. Sometides I use a mini grinder and cut the nagls. I never put it back again. I think your friend are Theo from Holland?
