KeymasterHi Carl
Very nice items. Did these Volvo truck drive in US?juni 14, 2018 kl. 15:56 #48341Stroget
ParticipantThere might have been a few to test in the 1960s, but they really started in the 1970s with the F86 and F613. I don’t remember ever seeing any of these on the road, though.
Car sales started with the PV444 in 1955 (26 cars sold!), but I don’t think I have ever seen one in the US. I have seen Amazons (rarely) and a few P1800s over the years here.

ParticipantNice trucks….
When you watch movies, you’ll see a 544 some times, and some 140 series, but most of them are 240 series in US movies. I can not find anything that indicates that Volvo long nose Trucks were sold in US. But I saw somewhere that Volvo trucks were the only foreign lorries that were represented in the US in the 1960s. Long nose titan was in production 1951-73, so it would not be completely unlikely in the US, but rarely. One might say Volvo since 1980 took a revival in that direction. Under the Volvo Truck section, are, or have been brands such as: White, Autocar, Western Star, Mack and they also own General Motor’s Heavy Vehicle section. And perhaps it’s a little surprising that Ford otherwise made engines for the big Volvo trucks. Volvo later went to Perkins, but ended up owning the GM Truck section.

ParticipantGood idea – movies! The imcdb (internet movie car data base) has lots of PV444s but almost all are Swedish movies. Here is one famous US movie on a US street!
