InactiveI purchased my first Tekno model today, the Ford D-800 truck, which I won from an Ebay auction. I have long admired this model (especially with all the details and functioning parts), and purchased this one for a little more than $16.
It is in rather rough condition, and has a cracked windshield. There also appears to be red paint smears in a few places. It is also missing the rails or a plastic “tarp” over the bed. I notice the parts shop has most (if not all) of the parts that I need. Do you ship to the United States?
I look forward to adding more Tekno models to my collection, primarily trucks and emergency vehicles.
I used the Ebay seller’s images. It is expected to arrive Saturday, and I hope to take my own detailed pictures then.
I do not speak Danish, the main language of this forum, as I am from the United States. Secondly, I have noticed the translation feature of my web browser tends to think some words the English I wrote this post in, to be Danish, leading to some oddities I don’t know how to fix.

ParticipantWelcome – I used to be the only one who spoke English and not Danish. I hope you get hooked on Tekno like I am! Yours could be Tekno or Kirk on the baseplate – the photo is not good enough. The red looks like a bad repaint but hopefully the yellow plastic will clean up nicely. Soak in boiling water and see if the red will scrub off with a toothbrush. Maybe try very hot water first, especially the grill and front end.
The rail version is much more common than the plastic tarp covered version. KARL

ParticipantHi Cody, Welcome here on forum. The Ford D-800 truck is a very nice pice. It’s on the oilpan you look if it is Tekno or Kirk.
Good luck with your Tekno collection.
Best regards BertelAttachments:

InactiveIt arrived today. Cleaning was made difficult by the fact that the model had sand in every crevice. Most of the moving parts would not move easily as sand was trapped in the joints. The opening hood and its brace would move fine, but the doors took a little force to get open, and I had to use force on the plastic bed sides by pulling each area of the bed sides above the hinges carefully. I had to oil the front wheels and steering to get those parts loose and working right.
Mine has TEKNO Denmark on the oil pan.
It also has the brace on the cab, meaning it was probably made from 1968-1970.
How do I get it apart so I can work on the front axle, and replace the windshield?

ParticipantRecoating removal:
I will just comment on “Stroget” Karl, concerning. this.
in Denmark we have, broun soap / green soap / crystal soap – the same soap, different names. I do not know the English name. It’s thick as jelly and be whipped out in warm water. The soap is harmless to metal, rubber, plastic, wood, etc., but dissolves very often paint. It also dissolves old recoating, but it does not hurt the original paint on the toy cars. Only old Matchbox can be a little sensitive.
Get soap on the model as it is. wrap model well and airtight in plastic wrap. It is used in the kitchen. Leave it a few hours and see if the paint is loosened. Wash at the end, the soap of in warm water with a not too stiff brush or an old toothbrush.
